Warm greetings of solidarity!
In its 11th year, the UP Solidaridad, the first and only alliance of student publications and writers’ organizations in the UP System, continues its mandate to uphold and defend student writers’ rights and interests. It is with great pleasure that the alliance invites members of your institution to the 2013 Solidaridad Systemwide Midyear Congress to be held at UP Diliman from November 30- December 2, 2013.
The Midyear Congress adopts the theme “Legwork: Addressing the Challenges in Campus Paper Management.” This Midyear Congress seeks to identify and provide solutions to the different problems that impede the realization of the goals and responsibilities of the member-institutions of the alliance. Furthermore, the Midyear Congress aims to equip its members with various tools and skills to further advance their craft and most importantly, to actualize their mandate as responsible, critical and socially-relevant campus journalists and writers.
The Solidaridad Congress is the highest policy-making body of the alliance, and serves as the major consolidation activity of all member publications and organizations in the entire UP System. Discussions on pressing socio-political issues and journalism skills workshops will also be conducted. Also, the Congress aims to elect the officers of the Solidaridad Systemwide Council who will represent and lead the alliance in various events.
Registration fee is pegged at P1000 per delegate inclusive of meals, accommodation and press kits. Maximum participation to the Congress is highly encouraged, and as such, there is no limit on the number of participants your institution wishes to send. For inquiries and confirmation of attendance, contact Mary Joy Capistrano, Vice-Chairperson for Luzon (0906.2679.766) or the undersigned (0935.282.1147).
The alliance depends on your institution’s attendance and commitment to ensure the success of this activity. Thank you very much!
Towards a stronger alliance,
